For as long as I can remember, I've been fascinated with creating beautiful photographs. I was always "borrowing" my mom's camera and taking hundreds of pictures of anything and everything around me. My freshman year of high school was when I was given my first DSLR camera as a Christmas gift. It was previously owned and was a little banged up, but it was all mine and I loved it. I started dabbling around in portraiture photography and found that my real passion lived in photographing people the way they are.
When my first nephew, Brayden, was born in 2008, my passion took flight and all I wanted to do was take pictures of him. It was Christmas time and my sister-in-law asked me if I would go with her to a department store portrait studio to have Brayden's pictures taken. Of course I agreed...I took any chance I could get to observe a "real studio" and a professional photographer. Let me tell you, that experience was one of the worst things to watch. Being only a year old, of course Brayden didn't want to sit in a chair and smile holding tacky Christmas props. He wanted to run around and touch everything and see everything in this strange new place. In the end the photographer only took 10 photos and didn't get a single smile(or even a happy face for that matter). It was then that I decided to start a business.
Personally, I don't believe in posed photos or harsh studio lighting. I believe that portraits should reflect the person exactly how they are, and the only way to do that is in a natural environment that they feel comfortable in. I understand that children need lots of wiggle room and breaks during their session and I know that sitting still and smiling for a picture is the last thing they have in mind.
I am a natural light and on-location lifestyle photographer. That basically means that I use light from the sun as opposed to studio lighting and I do not shoot in a studio. Portrait sessions take place in my home, your home, or in a public park or outdoor area.
I absolutely love my job and put all my energy and heart into creating beautiful images that will last for generations to enjoy. I wouldn't be able to do any of this without the amazing and unconditional love and support from my family and boyfriend or my amazing clients who continuously come back to me and make what I do worthwhile.
